from the desk of Managing Trustee

Dear friends and well wishers,

For over two decades, you have keenly watched Mathru grow from a humble beginning of 5 children way back in 2001 to the present strength of 182 children, who are personally nourished and nurtured by a team of dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff.

Commencing as a school for the blind, Mathru has diversified its facility to children with other equally challenging afflictions, such as hearing impairment, deafblind, cerebral palsy, autism and other forms of multiple disabilities. The school has three centres in Bangalore – New Town Yelahanka, Srinivaspura, Yelahanka and D. J. Halli, near Shivaji Nagar - to foster such children.

Friends I am happy to inform that appreciating our social concern, one of our well wishers has gifted us a piece of land in a prime location of Yelahanka, Bangalore. This year we have constructed the fourth centre for children with special needs like mentally retarded, cerebral palsy, autism and other slow learners. We equip them with life skills, medical treatment, vocational training, mobility orientation and communication skills, aimed to enable them to lead an independent and dignified life in an ambience of self–respect and self-confidence. The building interior is designed to help the child become creative, explore mysteries, express instincts and grow on one’s own.

Thanks to our donors and well wishers for there generously contribution to bring up this project on schedule with all infrastructure to educate and empower our children with special needs.

Friends, once again, thank you for joining our hands in this new venture of Mathru. I want you to know that Mathru’s accomplishments are your accomplishments. Our challenges are your challenges, we are in this together. You are more than a just donor, volunteer, family member or friend. You are one of us. You are part of the Mathru family. Let us continue to build our relationship …

Thank You
